Medicaid Expansion Would Stimulate PA’s Economy

The Law Center strongly supports the full expansion of Medicaid to Pennsylvania’s low income, non-disabled adults. The cost is to be paid for 100% by the federal government in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and, after 2016 the federal government will pay no less than 90% of this cost. Moreover, a number of studies by independent, non-partisan organizations have concluded that, expanding Medicaid will stimulate Pennsylvania’s economy over the next decade, create about 30,000 new jobs and have no negative effect (or only a relatively small negative effect in later years) on revenues received by the Commonwealth during that period.
