Hearing Shows State and District Have a Ways to Go to Ensure Compliance

At an evidentiary hearing on April 17th, the Court heard testimony from three class members who encountered difficulties receiving appropriate services for their special education students. As suspected by the Law Center, the state and district still have a considerable amount of work to do in scheduling IEP meetings, reviewing compensatory education awards and ensuring implementation of services before full compliance with the settlement agreement is achieved.

The Judge, defendants and plaintiffs are conducting a number of meetings to further evaluate compliance.
