While they would like to have the empty lot transformed into a productive use of property, the community is concerned about the extreme height, traffic congestion, the environmental hazards associated with building on a former industrial site, and other issues, given examples of Blatstein’s and other surrounding developments, many which remain vacant.
The case seeks to overturn the Zoning Board of Adjustment’s decisions as a mechanism to address concerns with those decisions directly, but also as a mechanism to ensure that residents have a voice in the final result in a way that minimizes the negative impacts of the project and enhances benefits to the surrounding community.
