Staff attorney Ben Geffen, former staff attorney James Eiseman, and pro bono attorneys from Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP will receive the Child Health Advocate Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Staff attorney Ben Geffen, former staff attorney James Eiseman, and pro bono partners Stuart Singer, Carl Goldfarb, Doug Hallward-Driemeier, Ed Mullins, and Jonathan Lowy of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, will receive the Child Health Advocate Award at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition this October for their devoted efforts to our class action lawsuit on behalf of 1.9 million children in Florida who are not receiving adequate health care under Medicaid.

In 2005, we filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the Florida Pediatric Society and all children enrolled in, or eligible for, Medicaid in the state. In December 2014, Judge Jordan issued findings in our favor, ruling that the state is not meeting federal requirements in providing preventative medical care. The court is now considering how to remedy this systemic problem.
