Cody Sooy joined the Law Center in 2023 as a Grants and Development Specialist. In this role, he manages a portfolio of 50 foundations and donor advised funds and is responsible for drafting, editing and submitting letters of intent, stewardship reports, and proposals to foundations that currently support or may considering supporting the Law Center’s work.
Prior to joining the Law Center, Cody served as a grant program office with Chicago Sinfonietta, a nationally-recognized orchestra. In this role, he facilitated grants from prospecting through reporting while maintaining development calendars and records. Previously, he served as a growth and engagement administrative assistant with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Chicago. Additionally, Cody has written short and feature-length independent films.
Cody graduated with honors from Northwestern University with a B.A. in English Literature and Radio/Television/Film, and he was the first-place undergraduate recipient of the Krevoy Screenwriting Fund Prize.
