Transition services are crucial for preparing students with disabilities to take the next steps in their life, whether that be college, employment, or daily living. A student between the ages of 14-21 who has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is entitled to receive transition services from their school.

As part of our work ensuring that students can receive the support they need, the Law Center recently filed a Due Process Complaint under the IDEA on behalf of an 18-year-old student in the School District of Philadelphia. In the complaint, we assert the student was denied a free and appropriate public education, including that he did not receive transition services to prepare him for work or college.
