George Donnelly

Independence Foundation Fellow

George Donnelly joined the Law Center in September of 2017 as a Penn Law Postgraduate Fellow, funded by the Langer, Grogan & Diver Fellowship in Social Justice. He is now an Independence Foundation Fellow. Through this fellowship, Mr. Donnelly will target the severe power imbalance in Philadelphia between tenants—91% of whom face evictions without lawyers—and their landlords. Mr. Donnelly will develop and litigate cases that will advance the case law in this area.

Mr. Donnelly came to the Law Center after serving as a judicial clerk for The Honorable Stewart Dalzell. Additionally, he worked as an intern at Community Legal Services, Regional Housing Legal Services, Penn Legal Assistance Office and the Penn Housing Rights Project. Prior to Law School, Mr. Donnelly was a public school teacher in Philadelphia. Mr. Donnelly received his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude from both.
