We’re pleased to announce receipt of a multi-year grant from the Patricia Kind Foundation for our Fair Employment Opportunities Project.
Employment is one of the most fundamental needs for those participating in American society – it allows not just individuals, but their families and communities, to thrive. However, in Pennsylvania, this resource is frequently denied to minorities (particularly men) because of the combined effects of their disproportionate incarceration and employers’ increased use of criminal histories (including arrests and convictions) to screen out applicants. The Fair Employment Opportunity Project is a three-year program that will use a combination of litigation, education and communications to comprehensively address this significant barrier to employment and to more cohesive, economically sustainable family life.
We are grateful to the Patricia Kind Family Foundation for its support of this important work.
