Our statement on the murder of Asian-American massage parlor workers in Georgia

March 18, 2021 – The violent and hateful events in Georgia are heartbreaking, and their impact is felt across the country. The Public Interest Law Center embraces and stands with our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community as they confront yet another instance of senseless violence. We must not tolerate any acts of hate and harassment towards our communities of color, and we strongly condemn these acts against our AAPI community.

The trauma and anxiety these events have caused have only further amplified the need to dismantle the xenophobia, white supremacy and systemic racism that fuels such acts.  We hope and expect that the person responsible for this immense loss of life will be held accountable under the law and that justice will be rightfully served for the victims and their families.

We encourage everyone to seek out the resources and information to support our AAPI community.  This report from NBC News compiles useful sources for education and action.
